The DoD workforce is mobile by its very nature. As the organization’s Mobility Strategy aptly states, “Its mission requires the provision of forces over air, land, sea, across foreign borders and into adverse conditions.” Consequently, leveraging advanced mobile technologies is critical to enabling situational awareness and operational advantage in theater. Unfortunately, mobility in a tactical, military environment presents several challenges including the pace of emerging technology; security of user’s data and devices; and transforming the computing culture within the military.
Defense IT leaders are working to ensure data and devices are secured so they can operate in a cloud or virtualized environment. In this webcast, Robert Scott Jack, Deputy Director and Deputy CIO, C4 at Headquarters Marine Corps will share how the organization is enabling mobile technologies in tactical environments. Further, Mr. Jack will explore policy implications for enabling communications infrastructure and technology.
Participants will learn:
- How to leverage cloud computing for mobile, military users
- How to secure devices for operation in a cloud or virtualized environment
- How to leverage new breakthroughs in mobile voice, video and data without increasing vulnerability to cyber attack
