Beware! It's Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
Happy National Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
The name doesn’t have the ring of Happy Halloween, and there aren't Snickers bars and Tootsie Rolls if you knock on a neighbor's door. But the tricks that cybersecurity tries to fend off are definitely still there.
In proclaiming October a time to be aware of cybersecurity, President Barack Obama wrote that learning more about this security is important because so much of our world depends on a secure IT infrastructure.
As a little treat, the federal government is giving people a bit more information on cybersecurity.
The Homeland Security Department and the Federal Trade Commission have highlighted basic cybersecurity tips every computer user should adopt. Officials have launched DHS.gov/Cyber and OnGuardOnline.gov for more information on securing shared cyber networks.
And as our mothers always told us before we ran away with our Snickers bars, “Say 'thank you.' ”
