Amid speculation and controversy surrounding its massive “JEDI” effort, the Defense Department has scheduled an event to discuss its second large cloud initiative for email and calendar services.
DOD plans to overview requirements for its estimated $8.2 billion Defense Enterprise Office Solution effort May 16 at the AFCEA Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium in Baltimore. Responses to the draft solicitation for DEOS are due May 7.
Like JEDI, the DEOS effort will be a single-award for a potential 10-year duration. DEOS is slated to have a five-year base and five option years.
The Defense Information Systems Agency is running the DEOS acquisition and is seeking to connect 3.5 million users to email services in classified and unclassified networks. DISA also wants to reach into environments with limited connectivity such as battlefields.
