DISA raises the limit on support deal with Microsoft

The Defense Information Systems Agency has added $162.8 million to a contract awarded two years ago to Microsoft for the company’s Blue Badge Cardholder support. The modification to the contract, first awarded in June 2013, raises its ceiling from $412.2 million to $575 million for a one-year base period and four one-year options.

A key feature of the arrangement is that the support team will be able to gain access to Microsoft’s proprietary source code when necessary to support Defense Department operations—if anything needs to be customized, for instance, DOD personnel couldn’t work with the code like they could with open source software.

The company will provide Microsoft Enterprise Technical Support Services, including consulting services, software developers and product teams authorized to work with the company’s licenses resources and code.
