Gary C. Wang will take over as the Army’s new Deputy CIO/G-6 on Nov. 1, a day after current deputy Mike Krieger retires from the civil service, the Army has announced.
Wang, who started his federal career in 1983 as a project engineer at the Naval Underwater Systems Center, currently is director of Intelligence Systems and Architectures in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. As deputy CIO/G6, he’ll help oversee the Army’s network modernization and its $10 billion a year in IT investments.
"Gary Wang's a known change agent who will help the Army accelerate to the modern, secure and globally-available network we need now and for the future," Lt. Gen. Robert S. Ferrell, the Army CIO/G-6, said in a statement. "The Army congratulates and welcomes him."
