Army buys six Shadow drones for $11.8M

AAI Corp. was awarded an $11.8 million contract modification by the U.S. Army for the purchase of six Shadow unmanned aircraft vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
The Shadow RQ-7B is used for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and battle damage assessment by relaying real time video to a ground control station. The UAV can see targets up to 125 kilometers away and up to 8,000 feet above ground.
