Navy and Lockheed Martin demo UAS common control system

Lockheed Martin recently gave the Navy a capability demonstration of unmanned aerial systems controls in support of the Navy's upcoming Unmanned Carrier Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike System and Command Control System programs.

The UAS were operated from a single command and control system, which a Lockheed Martin team integrated with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems to provide mission planning, sensor and common operational controls. This allows operators to manage multiple UAS platforms simultaneously and provides them with one comprehensive mission picture.

After delivering a complete image, the team then used the picture to rapidly re-task and re-route the UAS. The team used a new open architecture framework integrated with DreamHammer’s Ballista drone control software and the new Navy cloud capability.

Ballista is an intelligent control platform that integrates unmanned drones and robots from different manufacturers into one system across space, air, sea and land. It can be run from nearly any computer, tablet or smart phone. Along with using Ballista, Lockheed Martin is partnered with DreamHammer Government Solutions to pursue the upcoming Navy Common Control System contract. DreamHammer has been licensing software to the U.S. military and intelligence customers since August 2011.
