The Defense Information System Agency’s “Expanded Forecast to Industry” conference scheduled for mid-August has been canceled because of evolving budget directives and the agency’s current fiscal constraints, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association International said Feb. 6.
Senior DISA leaders hope that the agency will be able to resume the conference with AFCEA International in fiscal 2014, Kent Schneider, president and CEO of AFCEA International, said in an e-mail to members.
DISA said it recognizes the requirement to conduct a Forecast to Industry event and is exploring options to fulfill that requirement short of a large conference, agency officials told Defense Systems.
The long-standing DISA event, which was opened for the first time to the media several years ago, typically included a keynote address from the DISA director and sessions that included senior DISA officials. Last year’s address was given by Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins Jr.
