SAIC to support Army biometrics identification program

Science Applications International Corp. has won a contract potentially worth up to $73 million from the Army Contracting Command to support the service's efforts to field the latest biometric applications and systems, the company said Jan. 9.

Under the contract, SAIC will furnish software engineering maintenance and management services in support of quick reaction capabilities overseen by the Army Product Manager for Joint Personnel Identification (PM JPI), the company said. PM JPI provides the U.S. military with a tactical biometric collection capability that enables it to gather biometric data and store it in the Defense Department's enterprise biometric database.

PM JPI's  mission includes positive identification and verification of actual or potential adversaries.

The contract has an eight-month base period of performance with a one-year option, the company said. 

The contract was awarded under the U.S. Army's Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions Information Technology Enterprise Solutions - 2 Services program. Work will be performed in various locations in the continental United States.
