New requirements for Army’s global logistics system

The Army has added requirements to the project to modernize its logistics organizations on Army installations, reports FCW, a sister publication of Defense Systems.

The additional work for the Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army),will be done under a $299 million contract modification, the story said.

Army officials and Northrop Grumman are developing a single, Web-based system to manage the tactical supply and maintenance throughout the Army. GCSS-Army will give military officials near-real-time information on their supplies.

The system will retire approximately 65,000 stand-alone data repositories, essentially desktop systems, the story said.
