The Defense Information Systems Agency has scheduled a three-day brainstorming session with industry for mid-June to explore ways to build a Defense Department-wide network that would manage mobile devices in a secure environment and also to establish a mobile application store, according to a June 3 FedBizOps notice.
The Mobile Device Management (MDM) system envisioned would provide the application and user level to enforce policy for network and end devices, according to the announcement. Thus, MDM "institutes the policy, security and permissions that define the functions the user is enabled to conduct on the mobile device," the announcement said.
The industry days event will run from June 12 to June 14 and be held at Annapolis Junction, Md.
