The National Security Agency has certified the Joint Tactical Radio System's (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radio system for use by warfighters, reports the office managing the joint program for the Defense Department in a May 23 news release.
NSA certification acknowledges and validates DOD's vision of secure, multi-channel software-programmable radio and enables the agency to extend the processes and technologies used on GMR for future nondevelopmental item efforts, said the Joint Program Executive Office JTRS.
The GMR radio system implements the Wideband Networking Waveform, Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System and the approved Joint WNW Network Manager, JPEO JTRS said.
