Infantry gets waveform network manager for Rifleman Radio

The Defense Department has deemed the Soldier Radio Waveform Network Manager ready for use with the Joint Tactical Radio System program's Rifleman Radio, giving individual soldiers and small units the ability to transmit voice and data during combat operations and other missions, said the JTRS Program Executive Office May 3.

The SRW Network Manager plans, configures and monitors JTRS radio networks that use the waveform. The SRW network manager makes it possible for SRW-based radios, whether developed through military programs of record or by commercial vendors, to function within the same infantry squad, platoon or company.

The SRW network manager is a precursor to the JTRS Enterprise Network Manager still under development.
