UAV strike kills al Qaeda member who aided USS Cole bombing

An airstrike allegedly carried out by a U.S. armed unmanned aircraft killed an al Qaeda terrorist who had escaped from prison seven years ago following his conviction for participation in the 2002 bombing of the USS Cole, reports The Guardian.

The wanted terrorist, Fahd al-Quso, was one of two men who died after a UAV missile struck the vehicle that they were driving in the Wadi Rafad valley in Yemen's Shabwa province, the story said.

Yemeni officials confirmed the attack, and al Qaeda acknowledged in a statement that al-Quso has been killed by an alleged American attack, the story said.
