The Army is reassuring defense contractors participating in its Network Integration Evaluations (NIEs) that it intends to buy technology products related to the field tests, reports Defense News.
As proof, the service issued a sources-sought notice Feb. 21 for 5,000 single-channel, vehicle-mounted radios able to port the Soldier Radio Waveform developed for use with the Defense Department's Joint Tactical Radio System, Col. Dan Hughes, director of Army Systems of Systems Integration, said at the Association of the U.S. Army winter symposium.
The procurement is the first launched as a direct result of the NIEs, which the Army is conducting every six months at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., the story said. The service intends to begin fielding the radios in October.
