Contractors are lining up to build a military radio system as the Army seeks to replace its canceled ground mobile program, the Washington Post reports.
The Army has released a draft solicitation for the system, known as the Multi-Tier Networking Vehicular Radio program. The winning contractor will be expected to build, integrate and test radio sets that will offer improved communications, the article said.
ITT Exelis and Northrop Grumman plan to partner, with Northrop leading the team and providing the radio system, while Exelis would support radio development and vehicle integration, among other elements, the article said, adding that other companies also plan to compete.
