Lawmakers urge Army to review requirements process

The restructuring of several of the Army’s major acquisition and research programs has not escaped the watchful eye of Congress, and as a result lawmakers have advised the secretary of the Army to consider a review of the requirements process, reports Kate Brannen at Defense News.

The Army has recently restructured six of its top 10 programs, including the Joint Tactical Radio System program, which underwent a significant change as a result of changes to the Ground Mobile Radio component of the program.

In the House and Senate Appropriations Committees’ conference report that accompanies the defense appropriations bill, lawmakers describe the problem and argue that it stems from the service’s requirements process.
