Navy completes UAS common controls demo

The Navy has successfully demonstrated its Common Control System (CCS) for current and future unmanned aircraft systems in simulated missions at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, Calif., Navy officials said.

CCS is under development for the Navy's Unmanned Carrier-Launched Airborne Surveillance System and Medium Range Maritime Unmanned Air System and will be available for eventual use with other unmanned vehicles that include air, surface and subsurface, the officials said.

The software system is designed to accommodate fixed, mobile and dismounted hardware configurations, they said.
