The Navy’s Unmanned Aircraft System Test Directorate plans to test new technologies and payloads for the Shadow Tactical UAS at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., officials with Textron’s AAI business unit, which manufactures the Shadow UAS, said Nov. 2.
The directorate will support efforts of the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical UAS Program Office to assess the Shadow’s ability to support new missions for the Marine Corps.
One of the program office’s key initiatives is the Wide Focal Plane Array Camera, which would enable the Shadow's operators to carry out persistent surveillance over wider search areas.
