Army to deploy micro-grid system to meet green goals

L-3 Westwood has won an Army contract to furnish an energy-saving, micro-grid system that the service will use in theater to meet its environmental goals, reports ASD News.

The Load Demand Start Stop system offers a fuel savings of up to 40 percent by allowing up to a half dozen Tactical Quiet Generator sets to be connected to a single power source that automatically cycles on or off, depending on power demands.

The Army has finished testing the system and plans to deploy it later this year. The article did not provide the contract's value.
