The Army has activated a project office specifically to oversee all Army fixed-wing aircraft rather than having them operated independently by individual organizations and major commands, Army officials said Oct. 28.
Army Col. Brian Tachias and Brian Sabourin will serve as the project manager and deputy project manager, respectively, of the new office.
The Fixed Wing Project Office will oversee the acquisition of new fixed-wing aircraft, the retirement of older models and modifications necessary to ensure the existing fleet operates in keeping with civil and military requirements.
A portfolio review by the Army Vice Chief of Staff in 2010 mandated the establishment of the project office.
