AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems has delivered a small and a miniature UAS to the Army's Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) that will be used to help develop various payloads for three classes of the UAS, AAI officials said Oct. 26.
Under a five-year cooperative research and development agreement, AAI and CERDEC will use AAI's Aerosonde Mark 4.7 Small UAS and its Orbiter Miniature UAS to develop payloads for tactical, small and miniature UAS.
Among the payload types that the Army is considering integrating into the two UAS are signals intelligence, sensor and communications payloads.
