The Joint Land Attack Cruise Missile Elevated Netted Sensors (JLENS) system has passed its latest milestone and is mission ready, according to manufacturer Raytheon, that cited its two-week test run at the Utah Training and Test Range.
The successful test highlights JLENS’ outstanding surveillance, and aircraft- and missile-detection capabilities, a company press release said.
The orbit’s system has one 74-meter, tethered aerostat that includes 360-degree surveillance radar, and a second 74-meter, tethered aerostat that holds fire control radar; both aerostats have the option to communicate with other systems.
