US military receives new satcom terminals for tactical units

Raytheon will deploy advanced tactical terminals for satellite communications for the U.S. military with increased capacity to transmit voice, data and video and help warfighters achieve greater situational awareness, the company said Sept. 19.
Under an agreement, the company will field 364 Advanced Extremely High Frequency Secure Mobile Anti-jam Reliable Tactical Terminals, and also will deploy an additional 19 systems in Canada and seven in the Netherlands through 2015.
AEHF SMART-T incorporates Raytheon's eXtended Data Rate waveform hardware and software modifications to ensure secure satellite communications, the company said.
