Global Hawk ground station to cover international variants

A common ground station under development for Air Force and Navy versions of Northrop Grumman's Global Hawk also will be able to control NATO and other international variants of the high-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle, reports Carlo Munoz at AOL Defense.

The Air Force plans to release a formal proposals request for the first phase of development for the ground station by the end of September, George Guerra, Northrop Grumman's vice president for high altitude long endurance systems, said Sept. 19 at the Air Force Association's annual symposium in Washington, D.C.

The comapny is using open-ended approaches for the new common ground control station to control the various versions, he said.
