Navy awards ground surveillance imaging contract

FLIR Systems has won a contract worth up to $52.1 million over three years from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division to furnish imaging technology for persistent ground surveillance, company officials said Aug. 30.
The company will provide its Star Safire 380-HD system for use on aerostats deployed as part of the Navy’s Persistent Ground Surveillance System program.
The Star Safire 380-HD system provides long-range, stable imaging together with metadata embedded in the digital video.
