An embeddable radio developed by Harris and intended for communications in space-constrained military platforms has received Type 1 certification from the National Security Agency, company officials said July 19.
Harris’ Small Secure Data Link (SSDL) offers embedded encryption capabilities in a single-channel, multiband, multimission radio well suited for use in unmanned airborne systems, vehicles and shelters, they said.
The SSDL, which is based on Harris’ Falcon III AN/PRC-152(C) handheld radio, is already being tailored for use in unmanned communications relay payloads, they said.
