Canadian Navy orders multiband satcom terminals

Terminals will provide both X- and Ku-band capabilities

Harris Corp. will furnish multiband shipboard satellite communications terminals to the Canadian government under a $2 million contract.

Under the Canadian Short Term Satellite Communications Upgrade contract, Harris will provide terminals that offer both X- and Ku-band capabilities, company officials said today.

The terminals will increase bandwidth capacity and offer a more affordable way for the vessels to access military and commercial satellite networks worldwide, the officials said.

For Harris, the contract marks the first international sale of its maritime wideband terminals, the officials said.
