Let the protests begin

EDITOR'S NOTE: Five more companies have protested the NETCENTS-2 contract awards since this story was originally published. The additional protesting companies are: Blue Tech, Global Technology Resources, immixTechnology, Integration Technologies Group and Red River Computer. Both Red River and Global Technology Resources were winners of the original award in 2012.

Less than two weeks after the Air Force awarded its the $6.9 billion Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS-2) Netcentric Products contract vehicle to eight companies, the contract is beset with protests from the losers. The actions mimic the first NETCENTS-2 awards in 2012, which the Air Force eventually canceled because of protests.

So far, five protests have been filed with the Air Force. They are from: Force3, Dell Federal Systems, MicroTech, M2 Technology (which was one of the winners of the original award but lost out this time) and Sterling Computers.

Decisions are expected to be made on the protests by early August.
