MorphoTrust gets DOD biometrics contract

MorphoTrust has won a contract worth up to $17.6 million to support the central biometrics platform for the Defense Department, the company said March 11.

Under the contract, MorphoTrust will maintain the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) and furnish continuing software support for as many as eight other biometrics systems tied to it, the company said.

MorphoTrust owns ABIS and licenses it to customers, such as the DOD, which uses ABIS as its technology platform for multimodal biometrics, the company said.

DOD uses ABIS to accurately match fingerprints, facial and iris images, together with other biometric functions, to support the department's mission of identifying and furnishing intelligence on persons of interest who could potentially pose a threat to national security.
