TeleCommunication Systems received $3.4 million in incremental funding from the Army to furnish very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite systems equipment, the company said Jan. 11.
Through the funding, TCS will provide field services support and maintenance of secure IP router and non-secure IP router access point (SNAP) VSAT equipment. TCS' SNAP VSAT systems enable multimedia communications for the encryption and transmisison of voice, video and data.
The ruggedized SNAP VSAT systems feature a graphical user interface that allows for simple set-up and operation. The SNAP VSAT sytsems offer modularity and plug-and-play interfaces between all radio frequency and baseband configurations to meet end-user's specific needs.
The Army Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network - Tactical arranged funding through the service's World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) contract.
