Cyber sailors to get 40 hours of continuous learning annually

The Department of the Navy (DON) recently established policy for professional development of the Cyberspace/Information Technology Workforce through a continuous learning program.

As outlined in the Secretary of the Navy Instruction, Cyberspace/Information Technology Continuous Learning, released Nov. 30, 2012, all cyberspace/IT professionals will participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning activities.

The continuous learning program will include education, training, certification and other activities that support the sustainment and continued improvement of the capabilities of the DON Cyberspace/IT Workforce. Continuous learning will be accomplished through a combination of formal classroom training, experience and electronic media. Learning activities may range from on-the-job training to operational exercises.

The goal of the Cyberspace/IT Workforce continuous learning program is to improve cyberspace operations, cyberspace mission effectiveness and increase readiness across the cyberspace domain.
