Navy picks 7 for $899M battlespace awareness contract
The Navy has selected seven defense contractors to furnish battlespace awareness technology and support under a multiple-award contract with a potential value of $899.5 million over five years, the Defense Department said Nov. 15.
The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract will include task orders for the development, integration and testing of intelligence, battlespace awareness and information operations applications and dedicated hardware, DOD said.
The contract award recipients are:
- Booz Allen Hamilton
- CACI
- Centurum
- L-3
- Lockheed Martin
- Science Applications International
- Scientific Research
Battlespace awareness is a fundamental military practice used by joint component and force commanders in which they seek to predict courses of action before deploying troops and platforms into an area of operations. It relies heavily on intelligence gathering to make commanders aware of recent and predicted events in the war zone.
The base year is valued at $179.9 million, with the contract scheduled to end in November 2017. The contractors will perform the work worldwide. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, Charleston, S.C., is the contracting activity.
