Inmarsat to furnish global broadband to Canadian navy

Inmarsat will deploy mobile satellite communications services for 29 Canadian naval vessels, the company said Nov. 5.

The company's FleetBroadband will give the vessels global broadband connectivity while at sea for e-mail, Internet, data services and voice communications, the company said.

The company also will furnish its new Assured Access service, which gives government customers priority access to Inmarsat satellite network resources via their subscriber identification modules.

The Canadian Navy began receiving initial deployment of the two services in October.
