Battelle to supply battery for Navy anti-IED robot

Battelle has won a $6.2 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center to build battery boxes to assist explosive ordnance disposal technicians in carrying out their missions reconnoitering and removing improvised explosive devices and other unexploded ordnance, the company said Nov. 1.

Under the five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, Battelle will supply the center's Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division with approximately 500 units, the company said. 
 
The company's MK2 Battery Box is used to power the Man Transportable Robotic System used by EOD technicians. The MK2 Battery Box is a robust, smart power management system for the MK2 robotic platform developed in conjunction with Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory.
