NATO to spend upwards of $2.7B on C4ISR, comms projects

The NATO Communications and Information (NCI) Agency tentatively plans to spend $2.7 billion on C4ISR and communication capabilities over the next 18 months to support its missions and operations, reports Defense News.
NCI's other key procurements, according to the story, include:
- Ballistic missile defense (60 million euros in the first half of 2013).
- Air defense radars for surveillance and identification (35 million euros in Q4 2012).
- Deployable passive electronic support measure trackers for surveillance and identification (14 million euros in Q4 2012).
- Deployable satellites (33 million euros in Q1 2013).
- Software, servers and specialized hardware for logistics functional services (33 million euros in Q4 2012).
- Assets for countering terrorist attacks and improvised explosive devices (15 million euros in Q1 2013).
NCI was established on July 1, 2012, as part of a NATO agency reorganization, the story said. NCI has contractual arrangements with suppliers from all 28 NATO Nations.
