Research effort focuses on UAV teamwork on missions

The Air Force is looking for scientists and engineers who can develop technology to help different unmanned aerial vehicles collaboratively track targets, reports NextGov.

A U.S. Air Force Academy research effort, known as Cooperative Technologies for Unmanned Systems and listed on grants.gov, would explore the potential for combining data from different sensors on unmanned aircraft to improve the accuracy of geo-locating moving targets, the story said.

Technology developed through the research effort will help the service stitch together the strengths of various surveillance planes and unmanned systems, the story said.
