Throwable robot can eavesdrop on enemy conversations

Recon Robotics' Throwbot XT micro-robot is now outfitted with a microphone for audio intelligence to supplement its video intelligence capabilities for warfighters, the company said in a June 8 news release

The 1.2-pound throwable robot resists damage from water and dust and has an infrared optical system that activates automatically when ambient light is low, the company said.

The Throwbot XT is useful to warfighters for its ability to locate enemy positions, eavesdrop on enemy conversations and give visual intelligence on the layout of rooms, thus helping to save lives during military operations, the company said.
