Air Force puts new iPad buy on fast track

The Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) has announced another solicitation for Apple iPad tablet computers to store digital charts for its flight crews, reports Nextgov.

The latest solicitation follows the abrupt cancellation in February of its original iPad procurement.

AFSOC, which said it wants to purchase 2,725 third-generation iPads in the request for proposals issued April 9, is seeking bids for the iPad "brand name or equal" tablets. Proposals are due April 23.
