Air Force gets support for space launch efforts
$38.4 million contract calls for engineering and integration services
Booz Allen Hamilton will provide engineering and integration services to the Air Force under a $38.4 million contract.
The systems engineering and integration (SE&I) contract will support the Air Force Launch and Test Range System’s Spacelift Range Group, Launch and Range Systems Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles.
Under the contract, Booz Allen will provide required SE&I support to modernize the spacelift range enterprise by establishing the structure, processes and tools that will significantly increase the reliability, maintainability, availability and dependability of the operating systems.
The four-year contract also provides for a risk reduction and capability maturation program to develop and maintain the current and future architectures.
The Launch and Test Range System includes ground-based surveillance, navigation, flight operations and analysis, command and control, communications and weather assets for space missions.
LTRS is co-located at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., for the eastern range and Vandenberg AFB, Calif., for the western range. The system provides the Defense Department, NASA and commercial customers with a highly reliable, integrated system to support spacecraft launches as well as ballistic missile and aeronautical testing.
The Booz Allen team includes Arinc, Cirrus Technology, Ensco and Lockheed Martin Enterprise Integration, according to the announcement.
