Special Operations Command gets image analysis support

Contractor will perform work at Fort Bragg

L-3 Services Inc. will provide scientific and technical support services to the Special Operations Command under a one-year, $24.8 million contract.

L-3 Services will furnish imagery analysis services to the command, the Defense Department announced Nov. 17. Imagery analysis involves the study of geospatial data and images from satellite and airborne systems such as unmanned aerial vehicles in support of military operations.

If all options are exercised, the contract potentially could be worth as much as $155 million over five years, according to an announcement posted Nov. 19 on the FedBizOpps Web site.

The company will perform the work primarily at Fort Bragg, N.C., DOD said.

L-3 Services, headquartered in Reston, Va., is a unit of L-3 Communications Corp., of New York.
