Army allows three to vie for forensic task orders
Five-year multiple-award contract has a maximum value of $145 million
American Systems Corp., Analytic Services Inc. and Ideal Innovations Inc., have won a multiple award contract to compete for approximately $145 million in task orders to provide forensic services to the Army.
Under the five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, the trio of government contractors specifically will compete to provide forensic services to the Army’s Defense Forensic Enterprise System (DFES).
The support will cover the forensic disciplines of nuclear DNA, serology, forensic anthropology, digital evidence, forensic toxicology and forensic pathology, among others, according to a Sept. 28 announcement from American Systems.
The goal of the DFES is to more centrally manage forensic science activities for all of the military services’ criminal investigations and warfighter operations and to support homeland security functions.
In support of the DFES’ mission, American Systems and its teammates will provide research, technical, operational and analytical services for the four principal organizations in the Army: the Office of the Provost Marshal General, United States Army Military Police School, the Criminal Investigation Division Command and the United States Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory, the company said.
Work under the contract, which has a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods, will be performed at Ft. Gillem, Ga., Washington, D.C., and other locations worldwide as necessary. The base period of performance is from Sept. 21, 2009 through Sept. 20, 2010.
Earlier this year, DOD announced a competitive program to nurture and encourage students to pursue careers in cyber investigations and forensics.
