NAVSEA awards operational support task order
$84.7 million task order calls for IT services, database and software development among other services
Alion Science and Technology Corp. will support the Naval Sea Systems Command Information Officer under an $84.7 million task order.
Under the new task order, which has one base year, one option year, and three award term years, Alion will provide a broad range of operational and technical services, including resource management, enterprise application management, database and software development, and network management.
Among other tasks, Alion will consolidate and enhance key information technology systems, including the NAVSEA Intranet.
The Alion-led team also will support and manage NAVSEA’s existing applications and operations as they are transitioned into the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet program or the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning Tool.
The team will also assist NAVSEA in defining requirements and design standards for its follow-on system, the Next Generation Enterprise Network.
NAVSEA is consolidating its external Web sites and migrating to single-point hosting while the internal sites are migrated to a Microsoft SharePoint-based system. Alion is leading the effort and consolidating the sites under an information portal named I-NavSea, company officials said.
“This contract helps NAVSEA combine a majority of its support services under one contractor, which improves technical efficiency, reduces costs, improves IT security and provides an enhanced integration of all NAVSEA enterprise IT functions and assets,” said Timer Keenan, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Strategic Operations Group.
To support the task order, issued under the NAVSEA SeaPort-E contract, Alion’s team includes General Dynamics IT, Infosoft, Pac Solutions, Information Innovators and Imagine One.
