Joint Strike Fighter data stolen in Pentagon cyber attack

Hackers penetrated the Defense Department computer systems that contained data about the Joint Strike Fighter project, according to a report in today’s Wall Street Journal.

Data on the design and electronics systems for the aircraft was accessed and copied, according to the article. The identity of the attackers and the amount of data compromised is not known.

The most secret data related to the Joint Strike Fighter project was not accessed because the computers where that information is stored are not connected to the Internet, the article said.

The best protection is the stand alone system. The next best security is a VPN among workers. One can use an intelligent router for machine verification too, which may not be foolproof.
