Army orders more portable satellite radios
The Army will receive additional wideband tactical satellite radio systems from Harris Corp. under a new order valued at $150 million.
Under the agreement, Harris’ RF Communications Division will provide AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios, related spare parts and support services, the Defense Department announced April 8.
The order was placed through an existing indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum value of $500 million, Harris officials said.
The AN/PRC-117G has NSA Type-1 certification, which ensures that information remains classified and secure through the use of cryptographic processes.
Harris Corp., of Melbourne, Fla., provides communications and information technology products and services to the government and commercial sectors.
