Large exits NRO

National Reconnaissance Office Director Scott Large will step down from his post on April 18, reports Aviation Week’s Ares Blog.

Large reached his decision after consultation with the director of national intelligence that a leadership change was necessary, an NRO spokesman said.

This means that a new director will be responsible for overseeing the development and purchase of multiple new electro-optical spy satellites that President Barack Obama approved April 6.

Maj. Gen. Ellen Pawlikowski, deputy director of the NRO, will manage the secretive organization in the interim.
