SAIC to support Naval Health Research Center

Science Applications International Corp. will provide biomedical, epidemiological and clinical research support under an Army contract that could be worth as much as $20 million over five years.
SAIC will assist the Naval Health Research Center under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract from the Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division. The center, established in 1974, develops and delivers operational biomedical research solutions that improve the health, safety, readiness and performance of the nation’s military.
SAIC services will assist the NHRC with medical modeling and simulation, warfighter performance, HIV/AIDS prevention, behavioral sciences and epidemiology, SAIC officials said.
The contractor will also perform research in submarine and aerospace medical effects, environmental health and directed energy bioeffects – capturing and quantifying the biological effects of directed energy weapons in order to develop nonlethal defensive weaponry.
SAIC will perform the work at NHRC facilities across the United States as needed, company officials said.
