Raytheon to build sensor netting system for Navy

A Raytheon unit has received a $20.3 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command to produce a sensor netting system designed to boost the air defense capability of U.S. fleets, the Defense Department said Oct. 1.

The Cooperative Engagement Capabilities system extracts and distributes sensor-derived information from ships and aircraft to give them a better picture of their situation than they can get on their own.

Raytheon Network Centric Sytems will do most of the work at its facilities in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting activity.
