Marines to get counter-IED training before deployment
SAIC to assist with instruction scheduled for installations on both coasts
Science Applications International Corp. will help train Marines to defeat improvised explosive devices under a new Navy task order valued at $32 million over three years.
SAIC will furnish the services to the Tactical Command and Control (C2) Division of the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, company officials said Oct. 14.
Under the contract, SAIC will provide counter-IED instruction to Marines preparing to deploy overseas. The contractor also will furnish logistics and documentation support to C2 Division’s evaluation and assessment team, the Marine Corps’ Training and Education Command, and the Engineering Training and Education Center of Excellence.
The contractor will conduct the training primarily at Camp LeJeune, N.C., and Marine Corps facilities at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., and Bridgeport, Calif.
The Navy awarded the contract through the Seaport-e acquisition program.
