In command

Lt. Gen. Carroll Pollett became director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and commander of the Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations Dec. 17. In his new role, Pollett will direct DISA in its mission to provide real-time information technology and communications support to the president, vice president, secretary of defense, military services and Defense Department’s combatant commands. As commander of JTFGNO, Pollett will serve as DOD’s chief network warrior, leading the operation of DOD networks worldwide for the Strategic Command.

The Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Gary Roughead, has named Rear Adm. John Goodwin to lead the Next Generation Enterprise Network systems program. Currently commander of Naval Air Forces Atlantic, he will lead NGEN as the new assistant chief of Naval Operations for the Next Generation Enterprise Network System Program Office.

Air Force Brig. Gen. John Thompson, chief of staff at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) at Wright- Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, has been designated as commander of the 303rd Aeronautical Systems Wing and deputy program executive officer for reconnaissance and special operations forces at the Aeronautical Systems Center at AFMC.
